Cynthia Somers, M.D. FAAP, graduated from medical school with honors in 1998. She completed her pediatric training at Wayne State University in Michigan in 2004, where she received the "Resident of the year" award. She continued her training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medial Center, Children Medical Center, where she finished her training in Pediatric Infectious Disease in 2007.
Dr. Somers conducted several research studies in Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) bronchiolitis at UT Southwestern and participated in multiple infant formula studies. She was also a recipient of research grants by MedImmune and the Infectious Disease Society.
She has been a speaker on several national and international specialty meetings.
Dr. Somers is a board certified pediatrician by the American Academic of Pediatrics. She is also certified in Pediatric Advance life support by the American Heart Association.
Dr. Somers has been working as a Pediatrician and Infectious Disease specialist in Longview since 2009. She is an active staff physician at Longview Regional Medical Center and at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center.
She lives in Longview with her husband Jorge Massare, M.D. who is a Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist. They have three childresn Fatima, Sofia and Jorge who attend local school and are very involved with sports and school activities.
